Twitter Secrets for Your Business.
By J.K. Woods
Let Twitter teach you to tweet for your business.
You maybe only using twitter to monitor what others are saying about your business. If this is the case you are missing out on so much. There are ways to use twitter more proactively and I am going to take the time to show you a few ways within the ebook I am working on, but in the mean time I will provide you with some information that is important and you should know.
The different areas of twitter.
There are so many different areas of twitter that beginners or even some that are already established on twitter either forget, don't understand, or don't use at all.
That is why I have listed them below and have provided a description of what it is and what it does.
Following
To receive any type of message on twitter you but follow that person. Once you do this, that means you will receive their messages that they post as tweets. The reverse is when someone follows you, they get your tweets on their timeline for their twitter account.
This is referred to the message that you put on twitter for your followers or potential followers to see.
@username
You can exchange public messages on twitter to a specific person or people, just by using the @ sign and their username following (this must be done individually for each person if you are sending out to more then one).
RT- retweet
Another nifty tool that twitter has for everyone is the ability to RT or retweet another persons and even their on tweet that they like. This is a common practice on twitter and is a form of conversation.
ex. RT @username original message (this will be the original message the tweeted)
You will not have to type this out yourself. If you hover over the tweet that you like there will be options that say reply and retweet. All you have to do is click on retweet and you are done.
Twending Topics
On the right side of your screen when you are on twitter, you will see 10 trending topics which are the most talk about on twitter at the time. These update continually and can be very beneficial to you. If you find a topic that you like or don't mind also joining in the discussion, do so as this gets your account out there and in the popular conversations at the time. This aids in gaining more followers and just being more part of the twitter community, which helps yourself on twitter.
Hashtag (#)
This is a great tool to use and you should be using it. It allows you to not only categorize your tweet but also link a word as a keyword. By doing this when someone searches that word in twitter search your tweet will come up. Just don't over due it as you also do not want to spam, just like keyword spamming with your site.
ex. Facebook is a great tool to do #smm and other #emarketing with.
Tweetup
This is a way to have a gathering on twitter for a business or hosting launch parties. This is a great way to connect with customers and followers while bringing like-minded people to each other.
Little more on Tweetup also known as Tweetchat
I want to touch base on this more, because I think that it is something that can be very beneficial to a business that is using twitter.
It is an organized chat that when it is being conducted as hashtag (#) is used before the tweet. For example #ssbiz would go in front or what is more commonly done is it is put at the end of everyone's tweet that is a part of the chat.
But how do you separate these chats from other meaningless ones? That is where this great tool comes into play: Tweetchat
